BASKETBALL TOURNEY: Women Get Bye, Men Play CSUN

Anaheim, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton's women's team earned the No. 3 seed and the men will be No. 6 seeded in next week's Big West Conference Basketball Tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center. The standings were completed by action elsewhere Saturday.
The Fullerton women were one of four teams to finish 7-7 but the Titans had the tie-breakers by virtue of a season sweep over No. 4-seeded UC Riverside and they will play the lowest remaining seed on Thursday at noon. Opening round games on Wednesday will pit No. 5-seeded Cal Poly SLO vs. No. 8 Pacific at noon and No. 6 UC Irvine vs. No. 7 Cal State Northridge at about 2:30 p.m. UC Santa Barbara is the No. 1 seed and Long Beach State is the No. 2 and each receives two byes.
The Fullerton men, who wrap up the regular season Sunday with a non-conference game against South Dakota State, will play No. 7-seeded Cal State Northridge at about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Matadors blew an 18-point lead and lost in overtime Saturday night to UC Santa Barbara, 82-76, giving the Gauchos the No. 5 seed and a first-round matchup with UC Riverside at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Gaining first-round byes are No. 3-seeded Long Beach State and No. 4 Cal Poly and they will play the CSF-CSUN and UCSB-UCR winners. Pacific finished in first place and UC Irvine finished in second and each will receive two byes.
