Isaac Salazar is returning to Cal State Fullerton as the new head strength and conditioning coach.
Salazar earned his masters degree in kinesiology (performance enhancement emphasis) at CSF in 2009 and served as the graduate assistant coach for the Titans from 2007-09. Since June of 2011 he has served as performance enhancement specialist for the Boras Sports Training Institute in Newport Beach.
His appointment is effective Feb. 13.
Salazar replaces Greg Vandermade, who resigned to take a position focused on football at Arizona State.
Salazar earned his bachelors degree in exercise and sports science at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa where he served as strength and conditioning coach from 2005-07. He was the school's kinesiology student of the year in 2005-06.
The Newport Beach resident has held several other positions in Orange County including assistant strength and conditioning coach at UC Irvine (2009 to 2011) and associate minor league strength and conditioning coach for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim from February to September of 2009 in Rancho Cucamonga. He also was a physical therapy aide at Restor Sports Physical Therapy in FountainValley.
