Michelle Tapper assumed the position of assistant athletics director, compliance on May 1, 2011. She was previously Cal State Fullerton's compliance coordinator.
Tapper joined the Titan family in 2005 where she spent two seasons as Cal State Fullerton's volunteer assistant softball coach before assuming a full-time coaching position in August, 2007. She coached for three years before starting her administrative career in 2010.
During her time as an assistant coach with the Titans, Tapper helped Fullerton's defense set a school record for fielding percentage at .972 in 2006 and post the second-highest mark in school history in 2007 with a mark of .971. She also shared in NFCA West Region Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Tapper had a brilliant four-year playing career (2002-05) at Big West Conference rival Pacific, earning all-conference honors three times. As a senior, Tapper earned first-team all-conference laurels and NFCA All-West Region honors after hitting .365 with 4 home runs and 40 RBI. She was named Big West Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks in 2005, marking the first time in the history of the Big West that a player had accomplished that feat. She finished her career with the Tigers ranked in the top 10 in numerous categories.
Tapper graduated from Pacific in 2005 with a B.A. in sports sciences and a teaching credential in physical education. She will receive her M.A. in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University, Irvine, in May of 2012.
She and her husband, Aaron, the assistant athletics director/facilities, reside in Chino with their young daughter, Hunter.
